Junior Kindergarten (JK) students attend a First Ride program that explains to them and their parents how to safely ride a school bus. We trainschool bus patrols who assist the school bus drivers in keeping the students safe on the bus. We perform school bus evacuations at individual schools so that students are prepared in the event of an emergency.
This instruction is good but it is more meaningful when the child's parent reinforces the need to follow the school bus rules and to be safe in and around a school bus. We hope to get them into good routines that they will continue to follow for their entire school career.
Please help your driver by;
1. Meeting your JK or SK student at the door of the school bus.
2. Crossing in front of the bus never behind.
3. Be on time for your bus stop. You should arrive at your bus stop 10 minutes prior to the drop off time that you were given.
4. Be supportive of your driver's requests and reinforce the bus rules with your child.
